Refund and Returns Policy

Overview (expectation management)

My goal at Smarter You Services is to develop simple but highly effective tools that help solve specific pain points and business problems. In order to keep my solutions lightweight and able to solve one problem at a time, I typically launch early versions as minimum viable products (or MVPs). With the use of AI, I am able to accomplish this very quickly (compared to traditional means).

What this means for you is this. I still keep security, UX, and functionality in the forefront. I develop as professionally and as well-thought-out as possible (without over-engineering). Regardless, there may be early versions of tools released with slight aesthetic inconsistencies, occasional cosmetic or functionality glitches. Some may even perceive my solutions as amateur, “beta”, or at least not up to “release candidate” standards.

For some customers, this is unacceptable. And I get it.

Many software titles in the industry, especially those purchased on one-time licenses, downloadable software titles, and written material are non-refundable. Because I am confident in my tools’ ability to solve real problems quickly—without a bunch of nonsense and bloat—I feel the best way to earn and keep your trust is to meet you in the middle when it comes to “money back guarantees”.


Refund Policy

One-time purchases (non-subscription)

Tools that are purchased as standalone titles or one-time purchases will come with a 5 calendar day refund grace period. Try out the tool quickly. If you feel that I misrepresented what the tool can do for you or your business, or you just don’t like it, send me a message via my contact me form. I’ll likely ask a few follow-up questions so I understand what didn’t meet your expectations, but I’ll refund your purchase with no hassle. Once the initial 5 calendar days have passed since your purchase, I cannot offer you a refund. You will receive an email when the refund is issued. You may contact me any time if you have any further issues with the refund.

Subscription purchases

Tools that are purchased on subscription models may be canceled at any time. These, too, will come with the same 5-day refund grace period as described above. Once the initial 5 days have passed since your purchase, I cannot offer you a refund. There will also not be any partial or pro-rated subscription term refunds. When you cancel a subscription, you retain access to the tool through the end of the current term (typically monthly). I will cancel your automatic billing, and you will receive an email when the cancelation is issued. You may contact me any time if you have any issues like further billing, etc.

Refund processing

If you are approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days. Because I cannot control the speed or policies of financial institutions, I cannot guarantee a specific time for the refund. Normally banks and credit processors get these types of transactions done within 7 – 10 business days.

I am not currently set up for store credit, however, if you would prefer to apply your refund to a different purchase rather than get a full refund, I can issue you a one-time-use coupon code. These coupon codes are good for 30 days. After that time, I will refund your original purchase price as described above.

Exchanges

See the refund processing section (above). Exchanges will be handled the same as the store credit / one-time-use coupon code.

Upgrades

Upgrades are simple. For one-time purchases, simply pay the difference in purchase price, and you’re done. For subscriptions, you may upgrade at any time, but the payment price difference for the term you are currently in will be due immediately. There will be no pro-rated charges. (Example: you purchase a tool on April 1st, then upgrade April 25th, the charge is the difference in price for all of April.)

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund yet, please check your bank account again. Next, contact your credit card company, as it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all this, and you still have not received your refund, please contact me through the contact me form. I’ll look into the matter from my end.

Sale items

Sale items may still be refunded, but only at the sale price.


Gifts

I do not currently have a gifting system set up yet. If you want to purchase a tool as a gift for someone—which would be amazing of you, by the way—let me know in the order notes at the time of purchase. I can either follow the instructions in the notes or contact you to arrange a customized email delivery, if desired. I can also issue you a custom, one-time-use gift code that you can send yourself.

Bear in mind, refunds are applied to the original purchase method only or handled via a one-time-use coupon code. Your gift recipient will not be able to apply for a refund.
